Trudy Rice creates her stunning artworks using solar plate etching, an eco-friendly process that uses sunlight and water instead of traditional acids and solvents. Starting with her intricate pen-and-ink drawings, Trudy transfers these designs onto polymer solar plates, which are exposed to UV rays to etch the image. The plates are then developed using local rainwater, reflecting her connection to nature. Each plate is inked and hand-printed on sustainable BFK Rives cotton rag paper, often requiring up to 20 press runs to produce a unique piece. This meticulous process captures the beauty of the natural world with precision and sustainability.
